How does laser hair removal work?Hair grows from deep within hair follicles, which are thin cavities embedded in the skin. Hair does not grow continuously, but grows in a three-phase cycle. While the rate at which hair grows differs by individual, the length of the hair growth cycle generally depends on the type of hair and area of the body. During laser hair removal procedures, a light beam penetrates the sub-dermal skin layer and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and hair shaft.
The energy absorbed damages the pigmented hair follicle, which impairs its ability to grow.
The energy is powerful enough to denaturalize the hair follicle and inhibit future hair growth, yet gentle enough to leave the surrounding tissue unharmed. Once the follicle is destroyed in the “growth” phase, its life cycle is stunted and the hair is eliminated. You will start to see results even after your first appointment. However, it is the combined effects of multiple sessions that will lead to permanent hair removal.

Basically everywhere on the body except eyes, eyebrows, forehead and upper cheeks. We prefer to not get too close to the eyes because of the risk of damage to the eyes.

Sharplight’s DPC treatments are non-invasive and safe. During the procedure there might be a slight 1-2 second momentary tingling sensation that may be felt but no pain.

Why do I need a patch test during my free consultation?
A patch test allows us to ensure your treatment setting is correct for your skin type and that no adverse skin reactions to the laser will occur. Please allow some hair to be present in the area at the time of the consultation so that the technician can assess your hair and skin type. Please also ensure the treatment area is free from all skin care products such as body lotions. Please inform your laser technician if you have been exposed to UV light over the 3 weeks before your patch test
